The Local News Last Night
Ok, tragic story - Car driven by an 84 year old woman crashes into a school cafeteria, killing one, and injuring 2 others. “The cause of the accident is still under investigation”
Um, hey, taxpayers.. let me save you some money… The cause was the fact that the driver was EIGHTY FOUR YEARS OLD. The really tragic part: there was a ‘driving for seniors’ course being held right next to the school.
Also in the news: a story about a fire that broke out while a man “fell asleep while cooking French fries.” Neither Amanda nor myself could stop laughing. Why did they include the “French Fries” in the comment? Why not just say he fell asleep while cooking? And who the hell falls asleep while cooking French Fries, anyway???

I really hate local news. Really hate it. There’s a big and nasty race going on right now for president of the Board Of Alderman in the city right now. Has the local news even bothered to explain to us the positions and differences of the canidates? No. Have they told us about french fry-related fires? Yes.

There is a ridiculous number of cooking/sleeping deaths in New Zealand. They actually have public service announcement about drunk chip frying…seriously. Something like don’t fry and die. Really. I guess people get crazy drunk at the pub and go home to cook up some grub and then fall asleep while waiting for the oil to get good and bubbly.
